ARCHITECTS BENEVOLENT SOCIETY

Architects Benevolent Society is a charitable society of architects of Kerala registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act 1955 with registration number TSR/TC/208/2014 dated 05.03.2014 to cater the benevolence of the architects of Kerala

ABS is formed by architects of Kerala to take care of the benevolent activities of the architects of Kerala in consultation withIIA Kerala Chapter. It has objectives like supporting the elderly architects, providing insurance coverage to its members, providing professional indemnity, providing death compensation to the family of the members, providing financial and legal assistance, supporting during hospitalization etc.

Membership of ABS is limited to IIA members or those who agree to be a member of IIA within a year of joining ABS.

Now as a first step, the Society has come up with a scheme to provide death compensation to its members by the name
“IIA-Surakshitham”. It’s a contributory scheme purely based on brotherhood and benevolence. Members of ABS who are willing to contribute generously an equal amount as decided by the ABS on every death of a member can join the scheme. For the time being, ABS is promoting membership for those who join the IIA-Surakshitham Scheme only. All the admission fee collected for
IIA-Surakshitham Scheme are refundable deposits, which will be refunded along with the death compensation.

ABS will be coming up with different, affordable to all schemes to cater the other objectives of the society once the society comes to a stable position.

Membership of ABS is limited to IIA members or those who have applied to be a member of IIA. They have to apply for the membership of ABS in prescribed form with a membership fee of Rs.1,000/-
The executive committee of the society have the right to accept/reject any ap plication for membership
Four out of nine member of the ABS executive committee will be nominated by IIA Kerala Chapter.
Election will be conduct- ed every two years for the remaining 5 vacancies only.

The Prime Objectives Of ABS

  • To foster friendship and brotherhood among the Architects on platform for effective communication.
  • To enhance economic activity and general growth among Architects by initiating and promoting new ventures, consultancy to government and quasi government institutions, also supporting the younger generation by widening their knowledge base with experience sharing.
  • To encourage unity and extend ARCHITECTS BENEVOLENT SOCIETY and its ideals throughout the country in such manner as may be thought fit.
  • To establish enthusiastic and spearheading groups of intellectuals, management experts, opinion and decision makers and financial strongholds from among the Architects community for an effective interference at all social and administrative levels, so that equity and justice is ensured for the Architects at large.
  • To promote social, cultural, educational activities and science on a charitable basis without any profit motive.
  • To interact with, guide, extend help and assistance to the poor and weaker section of the Architects community.
  • To extend the network to middle and lower levels of the Architects community and support their activities effectively by all means including extending a preferential patronage.
  • To uphold the principles of charity, generate and distribute financial assistance to the needy and genuine members of the society, irrespective of cast and creed and, to serve as a prop to the downtrodden in a broader sense.
  • To organize and encourage projects and scheme to enable or help people to acquire their own business by giving guidance and support. The society can also start welfare schemes to generate funds to help the needy members when necessary to cover-up financial requirements on mutual respect.
  • To institute and distribute awards, prizes and honors to eminent personalities in the society, in recognition of their talents, valuable services to humanity and the society and their personal achievements.
  • To set up ABS help desks to spread the message of BROTHERHOOD, FELLOWSHIP & SOCIAL SECURITY at various places as per the decision of the Executive Committee
  • The ABS is a non-political and unbiased organization.
  • Profits, if any made from the activities of the Society shall not be distributed among the members and it shall be contributed to the ABS fund.
  • ABS can enter into agreement with any Government or authorities such as state, municipality, local body or any person, whatsoever, to obtain from them any rights, privileges or concessions, that the Society may deem necessary to meet the objectives of the Society, to carry out such arrangements, rights, privileges and concessions.
